Grow it long or cut it short. Shave it off completely. Cover it or let it fly free. How does hair signify status, beauty, religious devotion, or belonging in our ancient traditions? We will read biblical stories of men and women who were hairy (and not so hairy). We will consider some of the laws surrounding hair and the way that hair is used to symbolize other aspects of who we are.
As always, all texts will be provided in Hebrew and English and you do not need any special background to participate fully in class. And, as always, there will be biblical art and perhaps some poetry and music to enrich our understanding. Come and share your insights with us. You do not need even a follicle of hair on your head to attend.
The classes are free standing so it is okay if you cannot attend all four classes.
