Youth Coordinator

Temple Israel is seeking an engaging and dedicated Youth Coordinator to join our Education staff. This full-time or part-time position is responsible for developing and leading innovative programming for youth (grades K-12), fostering positive Jewish experiences, planning social events, and providing informal Jewish educational opportunities. The Youth Coordinator will build upon the strong foundations of our youth programs to cultivate a meaningful, values-driven, and fun community.

This role requires collaboration with clergy, staff, and lay leaders to ensure a welcoming and enriching environment that promotes Jewish learning, pride, and community involvement. The Youth Coordinator reports to the Director of Youth Education and Programming.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead weekly youth group activities for grades 5-7 (Sundays 9:00-11:30 for the 2024-2025 year).
  • Plan and oversee monthly social events and volunteer opportunities for multiple age groups, including Tikkun Olam projects and recreational outings.
  • Partner with regional USY leadership to strengthen the local chapter and foster collaboration with other USY groups.
  • Support the vision, mission, and curriculum development of K-12 educational and social programming.
  • Assist in planning and implementing grade-level Family Education Programs, Jr. Congregation, Holiday Programs, Shabbat programs, and other special events.
  • Teach and facilitate lessons as needed in the Religious School (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).
  • Preferred: Ability to lead Shabbat morning Junior Congregation with strong prayer knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in teaching, camp staff, youth group advising, or Jewish educational programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with youth, teens, and colleagues.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with parents, volunteers, and staff.
  • A self-starter who can work independently with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in planning and leading programs independently from start to finish preferred
  • Proficiency in social media, CRM/database management, and Microsoft Office Suite.
